To avoid stepping on the same rake day after day, it would be wise to remove them from the aisle and securely fasten them to the wall. For example, with the help of holders cut out of the most common PVC pipe! You probably have at least one of these in your pantry.

How to store screwdriver bits, drills, and screwdriver bits in the workshop

Hardware and sundries are the eternal headache in the studio. They get lost all the time. They “hide” when you need them the most and you want to sort them out once and for all. The solution:

Use to store bolts, nuts, screws, self-tapping screws, washers, etc.д Transparent containers. jars and “baskets” cut out of 5-liter plastic water bottles.

Cans, can be screwed through the lids to the ceiling or to the bottom of the workbench.

Don’t use glass jars, they are easy to break.

Drills and bits are conveniently stored using magnets, such as those taken from old speakers.

Now the little things are always on hand and will not get lost among the older “brethren”.

Shelves for industrial tools

Industry today offers a fairly wide range of different types of racks and shelves for tools, as well as other everyday needs. You can find compact suspended structures, although sometimes there are samples quite voluminous, tiered, rather reminiscent of open cabinets.

If you have a fairly large professional workshop, you need something more roomy, although the type of activity should be taken into account in any case. Т.е., choose based on the type of work you will be doing in your workshop.

In this article, we will not consider all the variety of shelves and racks as such, and will focus on the tool shelves. Consider tool type, size, quantity, weight when choosing a design.

The material from which the shelf will be made, should be strong enough. So, for garage is most practical steel structures, but in the workshops, where the repair of household appliances, strength is not the primary requirement, as lighter and smaller tools are used.

These are all just the most general points to consider when choosing a commercially available model tool shelf. In order to fully meet all of your needs, t.е., if you want to arrange your tools exactly the way you want, the best design is a tool shelf made with your own hands.

Tell me how you store your tools, and I’ll tell you what kind of craftsman you are!

I have a channel on YouTube where I post videos on craftsman workshop topics and much more. If you are interested, stop by!

Placing tools in the workshop in their proper places.

Placing tools on walls within “walking distance”. This is not wasted time making brackets and shelves, but an incredible amount of time saved in the work! Yes, creating all sorts of fasteners sometimes takes a lot of time, but during the work it is enough to make only a half-turn of the body from the workbench, and the right tool is already in hand. I remember the phrase from a good Russian cartoon: “It’s better to lose a day, then to fly in five minutes”!”

I don’t call to do it my way, but regard the following material as an idea! This is only my tool and my convenience, so deliberately I do not give drawings and dimensions. Everyone has to make such things “for himself”. Do not immediately rush out with a drill on the wall of the workshop and slicing it as if it were a Gatling machine gun. First of all, you need to strictly determine the place of each tool, how often you use it, and its convenience in terms of “take it off and put it on”.

There are plenty of ready-made tool placement solutions on the market in the form of peorized sheets and ready-made brackets. For me personally, these devices seemed unacceptable, because the peolists and brackets themselves are quite thin and suitable only for store windows, rather than for a solid workshop. Purchased brackets are versatile, and any versatility. is a compromise between convenience, durability and functionality. The walls of my workshop are upholstered with old, Communist furniture boards, about 20 mm thick, with 5 cm of insulation. Brackets I make from a round rod of 6 mm. The legs of the brackets are hammered into the pre-drilled holes on the spot to a depth of 5 cm, for which I make an allowance for the legs, 5 cm long. The system turned out pretty tough and is able to carry a heavy load, in addition without a single backlash. Unfortunately, the purchased versions are not free of backlash.

The shelf for storing the electric screwdriver

Electric screwdriver. One of the tools I often use in my work, along with grinders, so it should always be “on hand”.

I made a shelf for an electric screwdriver from 10 mm plywood. (Actually, what I found in my stash). If with the selection of the width-height there were no problems, then all the difficulties were with the manufacture of the shelf for the housing of an electric screwdriver. Here it is necessary to find the optimal cutouts and radii. In such cases, heavy cardboard as a template helps. Cut and try on until the “screwdriver” fits snugly on the shelf. And then we finally cut it out of plywood. It is important to determine the direction of the electric screwdriver placement “right-left”. This is necessary, so you can remove the tool from the shelf without looking. Well, there are no recipes. I am left-handed, it is comfortable for me. To take off the “screwdriver” with your left hand and to change the battery with your right hand. Since I change bits with my left hand, I put the bit shelf on the left wall. In any case, these “little things” must be calculated in advance. The whole body of the shelf is glued with my favorite carpentry glue Titebond and coated with acrylic lacquer.

My Комментарии и мнения владельцев to my own construction (because I learned by my own mistakes): The shelf for the battery charger should be made at an angle to the wall (or even place it vertically), so it would be more convenient to put the batteries on the charger. It would be convenient to place on the side wall on the outside of the socket for the charger wire. Better yet, a disconnectable outlet so you don’t have to take the charger plug out, but just unplug it with a switch.

How to Make a Custom Tool Organization Board

Brackets for a large angle grinder

Makita 9069. It is probably an extension of my hand, because I have not worked with other tools as much as this amazing angle grinder. I’ll take it as a gentleman’s kit with confidence. Accordingly, this “gentleman’s accessory” should always be at hand. A pair of brackets made of 6mm rod solved the problem of storing the angle grinder. In this case it was a simple “rod bending” and no welding. The support is on the motor housing and the gear housing.

Many people hang the angle grinder on the rail by the disk guard. I’m not sure that’s a good solution. The load is on the hood, or disk (if the guard is removed). And with this positioning the tool is not secure enough. In my case, the angle grinder was accidentally hit. It’s impossible for it to come off the mounts. And the load is on the entire hull.

Shelf for small angle grinder

Makita 9558. The second most used tool I have, and also rightfully takes its place in the gentleman’s kit. The brackets for the battleship were made in minutes, but for the gunboat it took a lot of sweat. Here it is important to easily remove the angle grinder from the wall with one hand. The body is made of 10mm plywood, assembled with Titebond wood glue. The shelf is glued together from two plywood sheets for greater thickness, so that the sides can insert a pair of metal brackets for the hood and coiled wire. From below the shelf, a blind hole is drilled into which the handle from the angle grinder is screwed in (I use it so seldom that it lives permanently screwed into the shelf).

Bracket for the drill

I also hung the drill on the wall with the help of a bracket made of 6 mm rod. I welded the bracket, but it can easily be made and simple bending, without welding. It is only necessary to bend the contour of the drill body. The drill. Not a tool that belongs to the “consumables”, so you can not make a universal bracket. My ENKOR drill “lives” more than seven years, “survived” four cartridges, several sets of brushes and still in excellent fighting shape. To avoid losing the chuck key, you can drill a hole next to the bracket to the diameter of the key handle. Then the key will always be near the drill.

Screwdriver shelf

With such a shelf is many times more convenient and the speed of finding the right screwdriver. I made a shelf from 10mm plywood (just what I had on hand). The whole body is glued with Titebond joinery glue. The strength of this glue is enough for more demanding parts. The body consists of two horizontal plates with holes for screwdrivers, two sides and the back wall. The shelf is attached to the wall with self-tapping screws through the back wall. In the upper and lower plate drilled equal holes in staggered order for easy removal of the screwdrivers. When marking the holes you need to make an allowance for pasting the back wall, which is pasted together with the sides between the horizontal plates.

Bracket for pliers

This bracket was made literally on his knees for five minutes, because tired to dig through the toolbox in search of the right pliers. All you need is a piece of 6 mm rod and a vice.

Rules of storage of documents at home

To keep your papers in order, regularly review them for relevance. Quickly become obsolete:

Any payments are convenient to make online through the personal account of Sberbank. If there are misunderstandings about the rent, you can always find the right check in the history and print it out in paper form. Also transfer money for the children’s meals at school, make a monthly parental payment for preschools. The convenience is that the electronic form is stored on the bank’s official site for a long time, rather than gathering dust at home in stacks.

Instructions for making a storage system

You can make an economical and convenient tool storage system yourself. It doesn’t take much time or effort, and doesn’t cost much.

Tool stand

You can buy ready-made storage grid, the base of which is made of painted metal plate. However, constructing the stand with their own hands from the remains of building material, you not only save money, but you can make a design that fits the size of your garage.

You’ll need a piece of plywood, remnants of welded mesh, and wire cutters to make.

  • Fasten the mesh to the plywood surface with self-tapping screws with a press washer. Biting out in the right place of the wire, you get a large number of hooks. They can be bent in any direction depending on what you need to hang.
  • Farther we distribute places for compact arrangement of tools, do marks for their fixation with a pencil.
  • Hanging on this design clips for polypropylene we get and excellent holders for screwdrivers and pliers.
  • For an electric screwdriver as a holder, a plastic adapter for the pipe 50 to 70 will come in handy.
  • If there is a piece of Styrofoam or foam plastic, you can attach it to this stand to stick all sorts of little things.

If there is some free space on the stand, you can install an interesting organizer for small items. For it will need a 110-e sewer plugs, some more clips and a piece of 25-th plastic pipe. It is better to put it near plug rim so it won’t rotate. It is possible to fasten the ready-made organizer to the stand with the same clips, but with snaps.

Organizer for small tools

To organize small parts, tools and gear, which usually lie in different places in a chaotic manner, you can make a compact organizer.

It is necessary to make a cut in the pipes in 45 degrees. This method is very simple, making one cut, you get two blanks.

Then they need to glue the cut off part to the board with a strong glue, for durability you can fix it with screws at the base of the pipes.

In addition to the tool storage system for the garage, you can make a lot of useful homemade plastic pipes for the house, garden, vegetable garden.

Wooden board for storing small things

The easiest and most inexpensive way to store all the keys, screwdrivers and pliers are wooden panels. They save maximum space in the garage, and it is easy to make them yourself. For the manufacture you can take the most common board from the remnants of the repair.

  • It is necessary to make markings on the board, then drill holes for the necessary fasteners. For convenience and efficient planning, we advise you to arrange all the tools and appliances on the prepared board in advance, and to think in what order and at what distance to mount them.
  • Screw in all of the self-tapping screws at the previously marked marks. To hold the screws in place while screwing them in, it is advisable to drill small holes of a smaller diameter beforehand.
  • Fix the ready panel to the wall. Level it. It is important to observe all safety rules when attaching. Remember to wear personal protective equipment when working with electrical tools (goggles and dielectric gloves).

When fixing, be careful and make sure not to hit or hit the wiring inside the wall. It is desirable to know how it is laid. You can take the junction box as a reference point, it is always under the ceiling and all wires diverge from it.

Keep to the basic rule: Never drill in a vertical or horizontal line from a socket or plug.

If you plan to use an electric screwdriver or angle grinder in the manufacture of the storage system, study and follow the safety precautions when working with power tools.

Tool rack

The basic structure, consisting of four vertical and several horizontal boards, connected to them crosswise.

It is important to note that the upper edge of each horizontal board should have a bevel at an angle of 45 degrees, for hanging shelves and containers with a hanging mechanism. It is possible to make such a cut with a circular saw.

The main advantage of such a shelf all the hanging elements are easy to attach and remove. Shelves and storage devices can be made by yourself or you can use ready-made boxes, attaching a hanger to them.

During operation, you can add new structures, as well as move the existing shelves in places.

Who would have thought that parts from tetra-packages could come in handy in the workshop? With screw necks and a small wooden lath made a handy holder for hand tools, now I always have it in a prominent place. above the workbench.

The holder for the tool with my own hands

Based on the arsenal of his hand tool, prepared the necessary number of future plastic cells. Separated from the boxes the part, with which they were previously glued, machined with sandpaper.

Took the slat, cut it off a piece of the necessary length and marked it. Rounded the edges of the workpiece with sandpaper.

Using a furniture stapler fixed the prepared necks on the slat edge. Then I attached the ready holder with self-tapping screws to the wall over the workbench and laid out all my tools in it.

It turned out that part of the tool had handles with a diameter smaller than the diameter of the hole in the neck. Solved this problem simply. Took the lid, drilled a hole in it for the working part of this tool and screwed on the neck

In my toolbox is a lot of screwdrivers of different shapes and sizes. I made a small shelf-holder for screwdrivers with 14 cells.

The shelf-holder with my own hands

I needed: scrap wood chipboard, a piece of plywood 12 mm thick, stud M8, 2 nuts, aluminum tubing, screws, a small piece of sheet metal thickness 0, 2 mm.

I drew the outline of the shelf on the scrap wood chipboard. Screwed a piece of plywood to it from below with self-tapping screws.

Cut off excess material with the jigsaw along the line. Without separating the pieces, drilled holes in them for screwdrivers. With about 15 mm from one edge, drilled a hole for the hinge mount to the holder.

Parts separated and inserted between them in the middle of the divider bar, fixed it with screws. The shelf is ready.

To attach it to the wall I made a holder out of plywood and chipboard scrap. Sawed a rectangle of plywood of a suitable size and made two 5-mm deep slots in it. The distance between them should coincide with the distance between the slats of the previously made shelf.

In the slots I fixed two eyelets perpendicular to the base, in which I pre-drilled holes, the same as in the shelf slats, strictly at the same level for the hinge joint

I connected the ready holder and shelf with an aluminum pipe, putting sheet steel washers between the slats and eyelets. The tube should be flush with the lugs.

I inserted a stud into the tube, put washers on its edges and tightened the nuts. The shelf-holder is ready, fixed it with plastic dowels and self-tapping screws on the wall above the workbench.
